(Paramus, New Jersey) -- All my life, I have enjoyed Jameed. I am Jordanian, now residing in the United States since 1960 as a proud American citizen.

My family name is Juliette Yousef Kawar. From my childhood, we have enjoyed Jameed. My father Yousef Kawar, always used to go to the fallaheen in Karak or Madaba to buy pure Jameed.

Every holiday, wedding and funeral was punctuated by the delightful delicacy of Jameed. My huisband, Khalil Saffoury and I ate Jameed at our wedding in Amman, Jordan.

Whenever I eat Jameed, I always think of my father, because that was his favorite meal, especially since he used to work for the Royal Engineering Corp for King Hussein. They always used to eat Jameed in the desert with the Bedouin.

When I came to America, it was extremely difficult to make and eat Jameed, unless it was brought over by a family member as a gift, visiting from Jordan or the Middle East.

We usually only ate Jameed once a year, if we were lucky. My only son, who loves Jameed just like his grandfather, would always ask for "Jameed." I would say, "Yumma, what do youw ant me to do? We have to wait for Tata Mary to come from Amman. She'll bring us Jameed."
